Methinks thou hast found thy labor of love, but not as an alchemist ‘twould seem unto me. Thou fleest yet again into history for thy pleasure and merriment.

Thou art most correct gentle Sir, ere the great Dante, Italian existeth not as did English before the works of Shakespeare but unto sundry silly tongues that diffuseth the mind.

Indeed until the era of King Edward III, Norman- French be the tongue of Court and Anglo-Saxon of the hinds in the fields. Geoffrey Chaucer’s mighty labor doth reflect the slow growth of that lowly plant until its flowering under Shakespeare’s hand.

Thanks for the heads up. I realized that "Italian" was a later construct, but were does one go to find Venetian language books or discs? We've been using the Pimsluer discs which are very good for learning spoken, and then supplementing with books for the written. You ought to check out my sister Caitlin's page, she spent about a year researching her Venetian dress and is supposed to construct me a nice wool farsetto and the rest of an accurate outfit.

Myself and some of my group began doing Italian (actually Venetian) personas a few years ago as we realized that practically no one here were doing characters from the birthplace of the renaissance. That just seemed wrong to us! My Italian lessons started great but have definately slowed this past couple of years.

Good day m'Lord! I have been busily getting things ready for a two-week event that begins this Friday. Two glorious weeks camping, frolicking, flirting and partying medieval style. I can't wait! I still have so much left to do, I am not sure how I'm going to get it all accomplished. I'm hoping to get a lot of pictures and will post them when I get back.

Can't wait to see pictures from your event!
